Community College Electric Dragster Sets Records

Students at Muskegon Community College made history last month when their electric-powered dragster reached a speed of 48 mph on a quarter-mile stretch at the U.S. 131 Motorsports Park.

Now, they’re looking to push the dragster to even greater speeds, this time using a 96-volt battery that could power the dragster beyond 80 mph.

It might not be able to replicate the feat automotive students accomplished last month when they set the first world record for a quarter-mile BR/I electric dragster using a 48-volt battery. But it’s a challenge students and instructors say is worth taking. Read More
